Wheres the boing?
Picked up new D3 HSE on 25/2 NO boing on starting as before. Is this the case in all recent D3s or is it mine in particular? . Cheers Guy

Better to boing a system check error or warning than boing that all is OK.
Confusing IMHO

do you really need a computer to tell you when to turn the key ?
latest sw on the D3 (any MY) is fine to start once yer glow plug light is out (or is it called preheat these days). No need to wait for the bong. Although old habits die hard as I still do

No boing on my 07 HSE either. I wait for the glow plug light to go out & the checking systems (cant remember exact wording) dash LED - to go off & start her up. Still is disconcerting though after being trained to wait for the boing to sound on previous models.
Do you get any accurate TMC info down there ? mines not working at all on this model- not that I miss it...... 2007 TDV6 HSE 'Silver Lady'. With 'free' privacy glass LOL.

I've often found myself waiting for the "boing" in my other cars .

I didn't wait last night before starting, short stop, engine warm, so glow plug only on very briefly.......
didn't get a booiiing; radio faded in and out in a most annoying fashion and I couldn't turn it off and the Nav Screen froze on the LR logo. Car seemed to drive fine....
will wait for booiiinnng again in future before starting.......... end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......

I do get TMC eventually (have to wait for up to 5 minutes after start-up for the icons to fill in on the map screen) and have been pleasantly suprised as to how (mostly) accurate it has been. Do you get good reception of Classic FM, the TMC carrier station? Or are you spared from that?
I was a little disconcerted last week to see that the M4 had been closed from junction 16 right through to junction 10 due to an accident (Nearly 50 miles ! ) but I assumed it was someone in TMC control centre having a laugh as it cleared 10 minutes later. I shudder to think how many TMC alert GPS unit's forced their owners onto back-roads because of that one...
I do like to see the TMC on the display, but have the automatic re-routing based on TMC turned off so that I can make my own decisions. I'm pretty sure that the TMC info sometimes gets garbled so I do manual changes of route if required (but then I have 07MY so I can do it on the move...).
I too miss the Boing on my car telling me to turn the key , and I only drove an 06MY D3 for a week before I picked my own car up...How sad is that?Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?
New car 25/2. Not worth waiting for the new reg then ???"To finish first, one first has to finish ...."
