Auxiliary Belt Has Come Off

Just arrived at Stoneleigh Park for the Kit Car Show weekend and went to move the car. No power steering and battery light on. After lifting the bonnet to check the battery voltage ( I have at least a multimeter with me) I noticed the auxiliary Belt was loose. Further inspection shows that it hasn't snapped and is in good condition. I've managed to check most of the pulleys and they turn.
Is this something that might go back on or is it likely that a tensioner has failed?
Would the job be a relatively easy DIY job if I was recovered home? I'm expecting something must have failed for the belt to come off and most likely a tensioner.

Regards,
Steve

The RAC have been out to look and spotted at least 2 of the alternator bolts have sheered off. I'll be on the back of a truck on Monday.

Next question is how easy is it to get at the alternator and does it mount directly to the block, or via a bracket?

I need to find out if this will be covered by the warranty the garage supplied with the vehicle, or if I'll be doing this myself Confused

Regards,
Steve

After a protracted recovery due to the small trailer I had with me that car has been into my local garage and fixed.

Removing the sump protector they found a complete bolt from the alternator, which probably means it hadn't been tightened properly. They ended up replacing the alternator bracket and the alternator itself as the mounting holes had been damaged. Everything else checked out OK, so hopefully that issue is now fully resolved.

Steve

The garage is still working with the warranty company, but this should be covered.

It was good to get the car back as I was beginning to miss it.
