It can wade 900mm, its maximum ground clearance is 283mm, and it has half a metre of axle articulation. It’ll go further than any Discovery, Range Rover, or even Defender, before it, they say.

Well if they reckon the 2.0 Ingenium engine can only do 30mpg then I'm cancelling my order.............!!!

It should be capable of at least 45mpg and should in fact return over 50mpg. Not worth having if it doesn't.

Never in a million years will that engine hit 50mpg, struggles to do it in the Evoque.

Shouldn't be a problem if the D3 can do this. Whistle Whistle

I thought that was a fitting description for the rear number plate, but I see from the comments it has already caused offence.

No chance, I've got an Evoque with the 180bhp version of that engine and it's hard to better 35. So 30 in the D5 sounds about right. It's <2k extra for the 6 pot.

With Aero wheels the fuel economy simply has to be better than 30mpg or there is a serious issue here. In five seat mode LR say it's capable of over 50mpg, now I know quoted figures aren't always accurate but a difference of over 20 mpg just isn't on....

Driven briskly in realistic conditions with aircon on then 30mpg seems very reasonable - it's still a massive vehicle weighing a couple of tonnes or more.

The small 4-pot motor will deliver better economy if you drive it like a nun in benign conditions with the turbos doing very little, but beyond that it will still need to burn a similar amount of fuel to produce similar levels of performance. It may not have a big motor but the air provided by the turbos still needs fuel to play with.

Thumbs Up

My existing D4 auto does more than 38mpg on average, and the 2.7 manual does over 40mpg, (both on long runs) so I fail to see why Land Rover would quote such figures if they were that far inaccurate....

I hope that a 2.0 petrol becomes an option ...diesel is the current antichrist in London ...£10.00 diesel charge coming later this year in addition to the £11.50 congestion charge

Best I have ever had was 600 miles on a tankful driving very gently through France at about 60 mph. Worked out by the brimming method!

I know they tried to get 40mpg on a test in the LRO magazine a few years back - they failed!
