But the question remains why we can't have side lights coming on with the ignition Its a £50k car for goodness sake.......
It's strange that all my Merc's BMW'S Audi's etc all had it. It's my first time back to a Disco since I had a D5 when the rear door hinge broke on a 6mth old car, swore then not to have another and since then always had a Defender as a spare car.
Come back to a disco and

Time traveller?
Is the D5 not going to be very good?
P.S. There's many pedestrians and motorcyclists who don't see DRL's as at all safe!

If you have the DRL's enabled either by faultmate or the dealer, it won't be just the sidelights (or fairy lights as some call them) that are enabled it will be the dipped beam headlamps also. The D4 doesn't have DRL's as standard because it doesn't need to have them by law. If you want the sidelamps (or fairy lights) to come on every time you go out, Land Rover have kindly provided a switch to the right hand side of the steering wheel to enable this Cheers Ian

From HIDS4U and fitted 'em myself. less than £200 including buying a new grill from Slimer on this forum. They're Phillips. Couldn't BA to remove the bumper and cut out the cut outs. The fitting of the lights took an hour. They come on when you switch on the ignition, go out when you switch to any other form of lighting and off a few seconds after shutting down. Full instructions in the kit

I stand to be corrected but if you have Daylight running lights enabled by a dealer (D4) you get fairy lights + reduced power dipped beam with no back lights .... can anyone confirm please

No you dont you only get fairy lights if you have Xenons or if you have halogens which have fairy lights fitted !
Normal halogens wont have them if you had them already they would work and you wouldnt have a normal side light MY18 D5 HSE LUX😎

If you have Xenons you must have fairy light i have not heard of Xenons without
They are not enableable as they are your sidelights its easy to check if you have them you wont have normal sidelights !
And the fairy lights are yellowish in colour not white !! Looking from the outside !
If you remove your headlight and look through the bulb cover and you have them you can see them and the ribbon connecting them together !!
Are you sure you have Xenons and not normal Halogens MY18 D5 HSE LUX😎

Nig, I'm a bit confused with what you want but your HSE should have fairy lights and these should come on with the first click of the light switch. These fairy lights replace regular sidelights. They are not DRLs and do not function as DRLs and are not available as DRLs in any market.
If a dealer or MSV owner enables DRLs through the config file the car uses the main headlights as DRLs, not the fairy lights. If you pay extra money to LR you can get the bright DRLs fitted to the lower front skirt. You can buy a cheaper non-OEM version that do the same job.
I sense that you think that the fairy lights are used on the D4 as DRLs like they are on an Audi or similar. This is not the case.
I hope this covers all the options but if not I will try again.
