If you are going to Como i thoroughly recommend going to Villa Balbianello…. It’s owned by the Italian National Trust and is the stunning villa used in Casino Royale… the scene where Bond is recuperating on the lawn when Vesper turns up…
It has the most stunning history and make sure you do the guided tour.. in the 70’s after a long and fascinating history it was owned by a supermarket magnet.. but due to the Red Brigade he was a target for kidnapping..as such every room was designed with hidden escape corridors so he could get down to the lake to escape.
This magnet was also an explorer, climbed Everest, North Pole etc.. there is an on site museum showing all the expeditions.. fascinating villa and an absolute stunning location!
Siena and Florence are also must see’s…
If it’s hot and going to Como a short trip to Chiavenna just North of Como will take you to dell’ Acquafraggia a stunning waterfall that has a small park which is fantastic for a picnic and also a dip under the waterfall or lay down in the river.. perfect for a great afternoon! Take your trunks!
