23 hours to identify loss of compression?

United Kingdom 2011 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 GS Auto Java BlackDiscovery 4

Diagnosis was a screw in 6th cylinder knacking valvew ie foreign body despite last person to touch car was approved service centre and I've done 12k miles in 12 months since then. Can't get my round round this even being possible. Is it?

What size screw have heard of it before but not on LR. Any idea where screw came from.
What damage has it done
 MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange
MY15 D4 HSE Kaikoura Stone
MY12 D4 HSE Nara Bronze Sold and gone
MY11 D4 HSE Stornaway Grey Sold and gone
D3 S spec Silver Sold and gone
Tow bar, full length roof bars, side steps, tow bar storage unit, surround camers.

Where screw came from- that's the $64k question. How can it have got past valves ??

I had a Jeep CJ 7 and mech managed to leave good size bolt in the inlet. Massive clattering sound back to mechs. They removed it with a magnet on a stick through the spark plug opening, checked the compression; all fine!!!! Never had a problem after it.

It has probably been sat in the intake some place, and has sat lodged there until the right conditions have been met to dislodge it

Has it had any other engine work done? Thinking more timing belts or inlet manifold work

Have you had car from new.
If second hand was it brought from main dealer.
Have you seen the screw csn you get picture of it.
What damage or marks to piston

Haven't seen screw but will get pics
No piston damage just knackered valves
