2012 HSE Luxury Entertainment System Fault |
|
Hi guys, my car seems to have a fault as above.
It was recently in at Stratstone to have a software update, due to the restricted performance issues, and the fault has only just started since then.
Basically the entire audio system cuts out, with what sounds like a voltage surge and splash heard through all speakers.
It happens when using any of the system, ie radio, cd, DVD or phone.
It has made the entire system unusable.
Last night I turned the entire system off, from the head unit, but the noise was still coming through the speakers at random intervals.
I suspect it's a fault with the Harmon Kardon amp, so I guess I reset of the amp might be where to start?
Any ideas how to do such a reset, or do I just need to disconnect the battery to do a full reset?
Thanks in advance for any ideas! Nige - 2014 Disco 4 TDV6 HSE Luxury - Scotia Grey

Hi Nigel,
You'l probably have to reset the Audio control module .......... A hard reset on the Battery may work but I'd be going for a software reset with a code reader.
Good luck

Update on Infotainment Fault |
|
Hi Richard,
Many thanks for the response and suggestion.
I did do a battery hard reset this morning and that seems to have cleared it for now.
My Disco 4 is due for its first service next week at Stratstone so will get them to do a code check on the system too whilst its spending the day there.
Thanks again,

Well after the hard reset seemed to clear it for a day,,the fault has come back now.
Will have to leave it to Stratstone to investigate on the service next week! Nige - 2014 Disco 4 TDV6 HSE Luxury - Scotia Grey

Hi,
My car came back from Stratstone Solihull after some warranty work on the power steering and I have this crackle problem.
You get a random crackle even when the sound system is off (and with any input selected). It does it with Bluetooth (phone and music) and even when the aux cable is being used.
In DAB mode, you get a crackle and then the radio drops out for approx. 2 seconds before recovering.
Stratstone are maintaining it is the new 4G signal interfering, but I cannot see how this can be affecting the stereo even when it is switched off or in aux mode.
Also there are only a handful of us affected. if it was 4G, surely the problem would be more widespread.
You can't even turn it off, it is really irritating.
Nigel, did you get yours sorted? If so what was the problem?

Hi Sam,
No my problem is still there.
My car goes into Stratstone tomorrow, I hope they can find the issue then.
It's interesting you mention it's related to 4g.
I don't have a 4g contract with my mobile as I am with O2.
However I do have an iPhone 5, which is of course 4g ready, although not with O2 even when they turn 4 g on later this month.
I wonder if my iPhone is still polling a 4g network, even though its not connected?
What was the consensus about 4g effecting out cars, infant believe that would be the issue as ther would be hundreds of range rover, and jag owners too effected?
Will report back after tomorrow.

any one found a cure as yet? can anyone check land rover?
Keith Cheers

I found it interesting re the 4g situation, as I had not thought about it until now.
I had put the change down to the fact that my car had recently had a software update.
However I also recently changed from an iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5.
So guess what, I went out for a trip today without my iPhone, and yes the audio glitch has gone away.
So this does seem to be related to 4g signal crosstalk or something like that!
I will still bring it up with Stratstone tomorrow, as I can not have a car with phone integration that's no good with my mobile phone, whatever the make or network! Nige - 2014 Disco 4 TDV6 HSE Luxury - Scotia Grey

Hi Nigel,
Going to confuse matters - I don't have a 4G phone, only a 3G 4S
The 4G thing was advice from Stratstone Shirley but I found something on Disco4 last night which says if you stick the TV to Country = USA, the glitch disappears. You also lose TV
This is because the issue is caused by an new EPG signal and only affects cars with the Freeview TV.
There is an advisory out from LR (I found it on here but now cannot find it!) to temporarily fix it by switching the country mode to USA on the TV. It fixes it for me. We now have to wait for a LR software upgrade.
Would be interested in your experience at Stratstones

Hi Sam,
Thanks for the feedback on the TV settings.
Yes I had already found that post re changing to USA setting.
I suppose that's one way to solve it, but to me losing the TV functionally that we all paid a lot extra for in our cars is not acceptable.
I will see what Stratstone say today, but if I am forced to lose my TV function I will not be happy.
Also we know from experience that land rover can take ages to fix software issues.
I feel a strongly worded letter to land rover customer service stating the system is not fit for purpose, and asking for a refund or compensation is in order!
They do need a fire lighting under them from time to time! Nige - 2014 Disco 4 TDV6 HSE Luxury - Scotia Grey

If this happens at the same locations everytime then it is fairly normal tbh and is more to do with DAB signal crossover points in your area. I can map out the points where this happens in Surrey and London 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Hi DG,
We have gone from not having any noticeable crackles to constant interruptions with a 2 second drop out. And it happens irrespective of the input be it Bluetooth or Aux or FM or CD.
I agree with Nigel, we paid for the functionality so it should be fixed quickly!

If it's occurring in other modes then that's not right 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Hi Guys,
Just an update after my trip to Stratstone yesterday.
I explained the problem, and straight away they came back with the reason already mentioned on here, ie the fix for now is to set the TV to USA until the software fix is delivered from land rover.
Whilst my car was in for service they kindly loaned me a 2013 Range Rover sport, with the same entertainment system as my disco 4.
I spent the day driving around in it, with my iPhone 5, and with my friend in the passenger seat watching digital TV on the dual, view front screen.
All day, without a glitch, and he's it was set to UK for the TV tuner.
I asked Stratstone to,explain this to me, ie why one car is fine and the other ( mine!) was not.
They could not,, but pointed out that lots of other cars are affected by this 4g issue, not just land rover models.
I explained that all I want was a working TV and sound system as I had paid for, and that I was not happy with the temp fix.
They understood and sympathised, and when I explained I was going to write to land rover customer services they also said they could see my point.
So a letter will be on its way soon.
Let us see what the response is and how long land rover take to come up with a software fix. Nige - 2014 Disco 4 TDV6 HSE Luxury - Scotia Grey
