Or rather than lining your pockets you could provide the instructions for people to do it themselves or they could spend the money with their dealer and get a software update which will enable nav on the move The End

Dealers here would laugh at us if we asked to have them help us be dangerous "on the move". I would bet you $1000 we could sue a dealer for allowing such a function that was deemed the cause of an accident here in the US. Isn't it wonderful, no one here is responsible enough for their own actions that we now have to basically be protected from ourselves. 96 Disco I, 210,000 miles - still going strong

You've implied copyright infringment, which is illegal and not tolerated on this site.
This is not new information, the change is to remove the LOADING.KWI file and burn a new Dual-Layer DVD. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

But given that every other car NAV I've owned has no problem with this I think the LR blocking it is pretty stupid. Especially since using the logic that i can be sued if you use it, they shouldn't install the NAV at all. Given the number of people that have apparently blithely followed it into lakes or fields, especially in the UK.

Silly question, I some idiot (me) has already put in the latest DVD and the software automatically upgraded - is there any way to roll it back to the previous version or have I lost 1791 forever? I'm thinking some sort of hard boot or factory reset. I am of course assuming this wasn't some sort of firmware update ??? 2005 D3 HSE

I believe that you can not go back, when you install the latest nav disc it first does a software update. I think the only option you would have is to get the dealer to do the nav on the move upgrade. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

Correct. Both 2006/7 and 2007/8 discs update the satnav's firmware when loaded in the drive for the first time, wiping out the 1791 back door code for good in the process. At least in the UK you can get the on-the-move update from your dealer and get rid of the block for good. In North America, you're screwed for the long haul. Umberto B

Sorry chap... its not a backup... especially if your doing the backup from your own hacked backup and then charging people for DVD with your backup on it.
Its called copyright theft and is illegal here.
May not be in the United States of the American Peso of course, but I doubt it.
Sell em on FleaBay, not here.

I suspect you will find that it is an infringement on two fronts:
A\ you have altered copyright protected software by removing content
B\ the individual may be entitled to make a back up copy ...but in your case they aren't ..they are buying your chop shop copy for 50 bucks
This type of action cannot be condoned on this site and I hope that the moderators deal with it in an appropriate manner 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

You do know Martin OWNS this forum?
Do me a favour and think of something unpleasant to say to yourself about your parents would you? I can't be f d to respond to the ill-informed urban dig. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
