Picked up my wifes new LR4 HSE LUX this past week! AWESOME!
We are very excited about our first foray into LR. We've owned lots of 4X4's including Jeeps, GMC's, Lincolns, and a BMW X5 which is "outta here" in a few days. While we generally don't do much off roading, I'm looking forward to changing that. We put almost 500 miles on the new beast this past week. We even managed to average over 17 MPG. That was a bit of a pleasant surprise. We did drive an awful lot of highway miles, but then again, we never managed better then 16.5 with our outgoing straight 6 3.0 liter Bimmer. So far, we are very happy campers!!!
Actually, it's Friday night here and my wife said, "lets go somewhere for dinner". I said sure, lets go to this nice British Pub for some fish n chips! For some reason, I'm in that kind of mood!
Cheers all!
Joe

17 mpg (US) = 20.4 mpg (Imperial), not bad at all considering US gas prices!! I've occasionally got less than that in my diesel drinker! And no EGRs & turbos to pack up, nice for some!!

Thanks everyone! We looked for a White with Almond / Arabic
for quite some time, but there seemed to be non left with the HSE LUX package, and we'd would have needed to order an 11 if we wanted that color combo. We ended up with Black Metallic / Black color combo. Didn't want the entertainment system either, but the one on the lot had it, and I must say, it's really - really good!
Last night, we were coming home and I found out that it's got "auto high beam" head lights! I new it had "high beam assist", and I enabled that when we set the car up at the dealer, but when I asked the dealer what that was, they described it as NOT auto high beams, but a variance in how high the high beams projected on a dark / country road with no oncoming traffic. Well, BS! They are great, and quite sensitive. Worked like a charm last night. What I found out is that you have to set the high beam stalk to a special position, at which point you get a "green auto" headlight icon on the tach to come on. Then it just works! Cool!
Cheers,
Joe
