xenon lights

hi
could anyone help by telling me if adaptive xenon lights will work if you replace the standard lights with them.
i have seen them for sale on fleabay and fancy getting them but if its not just a simple plug n play i dont think it will be worth spending the money.
thanks for the help

Do a bit of a search, they are plug and play (done it) but you need to make sure you are not buying the active see round corner ones Rolling Eyes

The ones you want need to be UK spec and have one side light bulb not two.

Look here these have two

Dunc, you wont be able to plug and play the adaptive lights as the connectors have more pins than the normal xenon and halogen lamps. If it's possible to purchase the connector that fits on the loom it may be possible to use the adaptive unit but it would be a lot of hassle.

PM "The Large One" and he'll tell you exactly what will work on your vehicle and how much they are
LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Dont forget the law also requires all cars with Xenon lights to have headlamp wash and auto-leveling headlights. Wash not such an issue but if you do a google search, having an accident with retro fitted Xenon's without auto-level may or may not be a problem with your insurance company (who lets face it will use any excuse not to pay out).

Not sure what would be required to enable auto-level, on other cars fittings on suspension usually at the rear, with the air suspension perhaps Disco is already wired for this (I am not Disco expert - maybe Halogen already have auto-level?).

Personally the Disco was our second car with Xenon and I am not sure I could ever go back, there is so much more light in my view, very good in bad visibility (rain/snow/etc)... not sure of the benefits vs cost of retro fit though, lots people say nice things about those upgraded Halogns from Phillips and Osram etc, may also be worth considering.

The air suspension auto levels so that is not a problem just make sure you have washers and you should be legal. Smile

Yup, did that, took a couple of months to get the set but very worthwhile.

Had a bulb go on my regular halogen lights recently. Replaced both sides with high brilliance bulbs from Halfords. Alhough not as bright as Xenons, a really worthwhile improvement for a few quid.
