Wheels and MPG

Quick one
I changed my wheels from 18 inch to 19 inch just after I serviced the D3.
Before the service I was getting anything from 29 to 32 mpg and that average was over the 16 months I have had the car,so all accounts from what I read that is excellent Milage per gallon.
Tell me this then why after the service (engine oil and filter,fuel filter,air filter and pollen filter)my Milage dropped to 23to 25 mpg for several weeks,I then put on my 19 inch wheels with road tyres and the consumption has remained the same ,which is strange as I would assume it would decrease the mpg.
I have reset the service interval when serviced.
No fuel leaks
No blue smoke
No other issues of brakes binding, low tyres pressure
Any thoughts

Specced with the correct size and same type of tyre, moving from 18โ to 19โ would have no true bearing on mpg achieved (same applies to all other wheel/tyre sizes fitted to a D3/D4, from 17โ to 20โ).
The rolling radius should be about the same, as the bigger the wheel, the shorter the sidewall.๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ

driving almost 3ton vehicle can increase MPG only downhill on overdrive so just enjoy

Whilst I have no conclusive data to prove it, I always thought I got a little more mpg on 18โ rims compared to 19โ rims. Both shod with Pirelli ATR tyres.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

But may I add the difference in milage is quite substantial since the service why drop 6 miles a gallon because of a routine service.
One
Either the reset on the service interval has corrected an error in the recording.
Two
after market fuel filter.
Three
Engine management has changed some how.
Four
After market service oil and filter.
I do know average is 25 mg and she drives great and wouldn't want anything else and really enjoy driving now we are allowed to .
But I am sure you are like me and would like to solve any situation whether it's the car or something indoors why things just change for the worse or very seldom for the better.

I always found mpg would drop ~10% in winter for equiv driving, and if it was nice and hot (like into the 30s) it would go up about the same. Pos lack of or increase in tyre flexibility respectively. Figures based on real world mpg, not the lie-o-meter.

also as per DSLs comment my MPG drops well in coder mognths as I pre heat motor quite often and normal operation in cold days would consume more
did the service included some work on brakes? maybe they did something to increase drag from breaking system
do you have any of the wheels hot after longer drive might point to sticky caliper which would imapct mpg
has EPB been adjusted too tight?
tyre pressures? ARe you runnign std for light load as per specs?
I would not suspect fuel filter affecting MPG

Is this what your D3 dash readout is telling you?
Or is it your findings on a more mathematical check ..... by checking mileage from fill to fill?๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ

Digital readout and litre per fill and no hot ๐ฅ wheels or wrongly inflated tyres.
I also appreciate winter driving and using my auto webasto Which has been used more in the last 6 weeks than ever before.
And I just realised as the car was laid up for six months and just being used recent three weeks I do not have a summer running on the reset milage so that is most probably the difference.

Have you had a flat battery or disconnected the battery? As this will reset the learned ECU values back to the default onesAndrew

Did you do the service or a garage?
Have you checked for codes?
Are you on the correct screen, Iirc one is for mpg now and one is for long term mog, or am I imagining that?

Yes had the battery off when fitted the leisure battery and do realise things will get reset such as the radio and mpg,distances travelled etc.
Regarding the speedo information there is only one display for mpg which I leave in the display as I am driving for the reason being to ascertain the best way of driving in different ways ,whether in cruise control, manual,sports mode etc and I have found that the more you can use the cruise control even on very short distances there is a distinct increase in mpg gained.
We will see when I drive to Inverness in July and should cover anything up to 1400 miles.
Looking forward to it actually.
Incidentally if any one has the land rover iid tool who could add the 3 blinks and dash clock give me a buzz whilst up there I would be more than happy to pay you for your troubles.

Donโt rely on getting any summer increase in mpg up here, it can be a bit nippy even in July.
