| Great service from A Plan |
|
Thumbs up for the service from Chris Sheen at A Plan. He sorted me out a fully comp policy for a 1980 Series 3, 88 pickup today. The premium was great value at £113 for the year and, even after adding service fee, legal cover and breakdown assistance, the total bill was still shy of £200. Great service.

Great service this morning from a guy called Richard at A-plan. Nice easy process and superb price for full comp. Normally just go down the route of online comparison sites as can’t normally be bothered with a call but this was pretty painless and didn’t take long. Highly recommend.

You can let your new owners know that they've lost another customer today. I've had my D3 insured with your Thatcham branch for several years. Last year I paid £299 - this year they wanted £697 to renew on the same terms.
I've just moved my policy to Hastings, who offered the same terms (in fact, some of them slightly better) for £286.

Appreciate the feedback and sorry we couldn't help this year. We don't, however, have new owners.
We have been part of Howden for over 2 years and our recent name change has no effect on the insurers rating I'm afraid, in addition the staff both at branch level and right to the top remain the same. I have commented across the forums that many of our panel have updated their criteria since December last year and as a result we do not have as many options available for 2014+ JLR models and modified JLR that are being used as daily drivers - we can still insure them but our choices are more limited than previous years. As a result, we withdrew our advertising from the forum as we can't guarantee to have options for ALL members although still remain competitive for many.

You say it's 2014+ models which are the sticking point... mine's an '09. No keyless entry, so no increased security risk - but I was still being penalised because of that. So it's a big old 'no' from me.

Apologies for the confusion, I was clarifying why we removed our advertising - because the 2014+ members we were finding it hard to support with insurance at this time.
Insurance across the whole motor industry has seen significant increases and many, including myself, are effected. I'm glad you found a price you were happy with through Hastings, as a comparison site insurer I would advise just to double check things like limits on windscreen and other cover features to make sure it suits your needs - along with if you are modified, check this particular section in their policy wording as many comparison site insurers allow you to declare mods but exclude in a claim and the vehicle value in the event of a write-off. As always, we are still here to support with free advice where possible, even if you aren't insured through ourselves as a broker, on our panel of over 40 insurers the terms and policy conditions vary widely, it's our job to match needs with criteria and cover, so it's important to check these yourself when using an online comparison site.
Again, sorry we couldn't compete this year - unfortunately we can't win them all as much as we'd love to. Some insurers have updated their criteria since last December altering their mileage thresholds so it may just be something as simple as that - impossible to say without looking specifically. But if you have an 09 it won't be anything to do with the 2014+ models having less of an offering in the insurance market.
