Water in fuel warning D4

Warning light on dash, water in fuel.
Read all the posts here and have been under car to drain filter but nothing came out. Should there have been fuel coming out or just water if there was any?
Everything appeared bone dry, if it was guessing next step is the sensor.
Can I replace sensor with everything in situ or does the filter and housing have to come off?
Thanks

I had the whole filter housing replaced which sorted the same problem. I think the sensor is built into the housing. A common problem is a failure of the sensor resulting in the housing needing to be replaced.

Hope this helps Thumbs Up
