Stu - allegedly, 6mb is the max - I'm sure Martin will tell you why - but why not get yourself a 'Google Video' account (free) and upload direct to there then just paste a link to it in your post. If you check out Google Video there are hundreds, maybe thousands, of adverts and TV clips - even whole episodes of some.
I wouldn't worry too much. If google can live with it then it can't be such a big deal. The copyright owner would have to ask for it to be removed before they could reasonably apply legal action in a court of law.
