The unthinkable has happened

Hi All,

After 2 production delays, and what will be 10months wait when the Disco HSE 4 lands in Melbourne on the 14th of June I have been informed the car is not what I ordered.

Somewhere, someone decided not to build it with RSE (Rear Seat Entertainment System). My current RRS has RSE and the kids would hate it without it. A bit of a deal breaker.

Also the RSE was meant to be a make it right for the first delay.

I feel really gutted and badly let down as I am devoted lover of everything Land Rover.

Don’t like the idea of a non-integrated solution in the car as I am really like the integrated system in my current RRS.

Really fell like telling them to stuff the car and I will go somewhere else to order what I want and start the wait all over again.

Only thought is asking for them to discount me a Disco V8 which downunder comes with everything including RSE but not sure about having a 5l V8.

Gutted.

Andrew

If it's not what you ordered and you'll be forever slighty miffed, then tell them to poke it.

It's only a car.

LR doesn't seem to be able to sort out a peewee up in a brewery at the mo! When you think how much these cars cost you'd expect them to get the basics right. They prob don't give a stuff as your car will sell to someone else but it's not a way to treat customers. Rolling Eyes

Interesting, 18 months ago (or however long it was ago) LR were making cars to specs they thought peeps wanted but they didn't. Seems they are slipping back to their old habits. Mind you I asked the guide dude at the factory tour what happens if the car gets down the line and the particular widget is not at the station. It just gets left off and that was that, no attempt to fit later when parts were available.

Now where's my Mr Grumpy avatar gone! Whistle

Tell them to give you the car you specced or better, otherwise they can stuff it. I bet the wait wouldnt be so long this time.

If you compromise you will always have a niggling regret.

I agree with the above posts.

How can they justify their position?

Tell them to "shove it" and go somewhere else.

I agree with the others who have advised you to go elsewhere, but wouldn't something like an Apple IPad or Touch solve the problem? You could get two for the price of the integrated system. Regardless, I understand how frustrating your experience has been.

Hi All,

My current thoughts are telling them to keep the Discovery and start the process all over again. Being a LR nut I can’t see myself driving anything else.

Only thoughts going through my head now are:

1) LR make a financial offer is too good to refuse the Disco and fit a aftermarket roof top DVD screen.
2) LR give me a big discount on a 5L V8 which in Australia comes with every option.

Anyone own a 5L V8 Disco, I get a company fuel card means not so price sensitive on cost of fuel.

Thoughts?

Andrew

Tell them to give you a loaner until the correct one arrives or you will get the new one from another dealer.
It should not be a problem, they should be able to give you a second hand D3 from the lot.

A discounted V8 D4 with your fuel card sounds nice!

A D4 HSE loaner while you wait for YOUR D4 to be deliverered might also ease your pain (not sure about a used D3 though as you appear to have one of them already!)

The important point would be to work out who's fault it is was. If it wasn't your dealer, they shouldn't have to foot the bill for ensuring that you end up happy...

Mate,

They have entered a contract to provide a service/item. If they can't provide the item the contract is void UNLESS they make an offer that you accept. If it was me I'd be firstly talking to the DP of the company, and if that didn't work Land Rover Aus as the next step.

I'm not patient with dealers at all. I am paying them a lot of money and I expect to get what I order.

i agree with the others, wait it out or go else where, don't compromise else you'll forever regret it. My Steeler talked my out of a couple of options I wanted to get me in a car much quicker and I have regreted that decision ever since...
