If its the bottom of the black arm that you move to free up the actuator, then the arm has definitely come off as it was just a ball that I moved to get it free, but it was like that to begin with. Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey

Not 100% sure but I think the earlier actuator arms didn’t have the bolt but just the ball , of course happy to stand corrected if I’m wrong

That's what it looked like, the ball that a bonnet strut goes on to, I was able to hook a peice of wire over it to get it moving, but it wasn't easy to get it going.
I've just driven about 60 miles and it's completely unresponsive. If you floor it, you get nowhere, but if you hold it at a certain point, you can get a bit of power, but as soon as any load is applied, like a hill, it just loses all power. Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey

Hiya
Know what u mean when they don’t move full travel, may i ask what spray are u using plse , personally I used some silicone spray , extended the tube then as I moved the arm back and forth sprayed onto the ball and it soon moved a lot better
Were u also able to see if the arm moved when u turn the ign on and off please as that will help if it does, if not getting it added will help reduce it from happening again
Out of curiosity have u looked and cleaned ur Map sensor plse

Hi, it now moves really freely, I used WD40 to get it moving. I need to transfer the IID to the new car and then buy the update, to get the movement on ignition. I've cleaned the MAP sensor but not the MAF sensor. If the weather improves I'll have a go at cleaning the MAF and check the butterfly valve, you never know it could be something else, but it definitely got a lot worse since I "freed" the actuator. something like...
first of all a torch to identify the 2 parts.
then a coat hanger to move one part close to the other.
then a large flat blade screwdriver, to push the ball onto the nipple.

Quick question, do you get fault codes if the actuator isn’t working? I don’t get any black smoke on acceleration. Steve
