with the car unlocked - when the tailgate button under the number plate light pressed
the boot wouldn't open - the button seemed reluctant to
work
is this a known fault ?
is it easily fixed ?
is it a DIY task using parts from TLO ?
or
is it some TLC with sprays etc ?
it may have been asked & posted already but could be very awkward to SWMBO'd who uses the car
any & all assistance appreciated...BREXIT - done properly.

As BM says, it's a common enough fault.
When mine went, the alloy bit inside the button housing had corroded to the point where it fell apart so a complete replacement tailgate handle was the only option, simple enough to fit though and not too spendy, (or at least it wasn't when I got mine.)Clive

You can open the back by pressng the lock/unlock buttons that are on the dash at the same time for about 10 seconds. You will need some one to lift it open though as the latch is released. If you hold down the land rover button on your key while you do this it programmes the button to open the latch so you can open the tailgate on you own.

Very common issue, when mine went I just replaced the entire handle with a nice colour coded one for not much money at all (currently £62 + vat from duckworth). Easy job to swap

I've just replaced my with a complete unit from Duckworth also. Easy fit, only chore can be the captive nuts get seized, but soon come off when you remove the 10mm bolts
