battery trouble WHICH BATTERY TO BUY? |
|
Hi everyone
My 05 discovery has lately been getting hard to start. The battery just hasn't enough power to start it firing all sorts of faults on (hdc, transmission etc.) Tested the alternator after starting and seems to be charging ok at 14.6v. Tested the battery and it read just 8v. Charged and read 11.8v but didn't connect it and let sit for a night and voltage had dropped to 10.6v. so it looks like a new battery required.
Priced a few batteries:
LR dealer 850amp 1 yr warranty £212+ vat
Halfords bosch silver 830amp 5 yr warranty £130
Motor factors Varta 860 amp 2 yr warranty £88+vat
Not sure which battery to fit as i thought the orignal one was 950amp

I'd go for something like this, and a good battery charger too, to condition it once a year in the autumn:

Can recommend CTEK MXS25. Great for using as a 'battery maintainer' as well if you ever do a software update.

I had a varta 110A 850cca from www.tayna.co.uk in the D3 for 3 years
worked perfectly in all weather and down to -20c and still have it as a spare.
plus 5 years warranty - about £110 delivered I think it was Duncan
