Agree with all of the above. Support is critical when dealing with such powerful devices and critical systems.

the basic Iid tool does seem to be neglected slightly in development in favour of the BT version.
No worries, the regular IIDTool will not be left behind but the BT does have more possibilities. http://www.gap-diagnostic.com/

They even go above and beyond, helping me out with an issue caused by another diagnostic tool.

The future development of the IIDTool is also quite an exciting prospect Thumbs Up

7.00pm on a Saturday night I had a problem with updating the body control module, after being in conversation via email with customer support I was asked to connect the Iid tool to my laptop and connect it to the Internet and they would take control, 15 minutes later the error I had made was rectified and the car was running. This is done by a device the size of a box of matches Shocked
What price a service like that Bow down Bow down Bow down Patrick Meilleur (hope I have spelt his name correct) and his team are absolute geniuses, in my opinion anyone who owns a Discovery or RRS should make it no.1 priority on their list of improvements.
Good luck to you all at Gap-Diagnostic and may your success and progress continue.

Had an issue with an RRS RLM update, after fitting an AMK compressor. Red suspension light on the dash, and suspension inop.

A quick email to GAP to tell them about the issue, and the fault codes. Issue was identified, new firmware released, and the car rectified in 45 minutes Bow down

Go for the IIDTool !!
You get a lot more then just a piece of hardware.
Support is awesome, fast respond on your emails and a lot of knowledge.

I'am a IIDTool user from the first hour.
First with the regular IIDTool and now with the BT version.

I thought i did bought just a diagnostic tool for my D3 but the features are far beyond.
Never tought it could change the CCF or update some modules firmware.

Now with V3.0 it's even more usefull, it can read faults from different models.

So keep up the good work GAP !!

I must admit that you made my choice very clear Wink
It sounds like they have great customer service and first class customer experience!
And the thing with remote access and solving issue - just great Wink

I will definately forget about this fake SSD tool and go for IID.
Just got to check with them if Samsung S2 is supported.

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the kind words, guys. Patrick puts in a lot of effort. He is the person behind our support.

Barti, unfortunately the S2 will not work with the IIDTool BT. We went with bluetooth 4.0 (bluetooth BLE) in order to save costs and keep the price of the IIDTool as low as we could (the difference to developing for legacy bluetooth was significant...).

You will need a phone that supports BLE (for Samsung the S3 and up, 4S and up for the iPhone) and Android 4.3 or later.

Great thread guys, I've been tossing up what diagnostic unit to buy for my recently acquired D3. After my initial looking I was favoring a faultmate msv-2, although through various forums I was a little concerned over the (what I perceive anyway) apparent poor support. After adding this thread I've turned my thoughts to the iid tool BT. I'd need to get myself a new iPad as my current one is a bit outdated to run the app, but at least it's not essential as the iid can be used without it.

After acquiring a new to me D3, I'm looking at getting some kind of diagnostic do dad. The iiD seems to be favourite. What I'd like to know, can it be used for adding things like cruise and making the handbrake auto release (it's a manual). Also would it add 3 flash indicators and remove that stupid "keys in ignition" bong.
Thanks.

Have a look at the website. http://www.gap-diagnostic.com/products/iidtool.html

Most of what you want it can do - keys in ignition I don't think it can - but I don't think anything can apart from some side cutters Laughing

Ok so say I decided to go down the iiD route. I notice it has a usb port. Can this be used to display the various modules the device can access on a laptop, in much the same way as the BT version does on a tablet?
I don't think I can stretch to the BT version.
I've checked the Gap site but can't find the answers I'm after.
Thanks

While the non BT version is perfectly capable, the BT version is much, much better.

It is well worth the extra cost Thumbs Up
