Swapped basic loom for HSE loom but with faults
I’ve been after upgrading the stereo since I’ve had her for 3 years.
And while I’ve been off I thought I’d set too.
Anyway, I managed to get an HSE loom, a hi-line stereo and an Harman Kardon amp and set too on Friday.
After some minor hiccups, a few scratches, cuts, back ache, shoulder ache, new swear words and I think I can now contort myself into a suitcase
Well it’s all in and I have some issues
Stereo turns on does everything except no sound, turn volume knob nothing. Even when I try to change the bass/treble, nothing.
There is no light from the fibre optic at the stereo end but only one at the amp.
Stereo is 6cd-465
Amp is AUD 2C/ XQK5000095
As soon as I put the key in the ignition, dash lights up like I’ve just put ignition on.
D3 TDV6 55 plate S(or HSE after I sort these gremlins out)

motolab - ‘cable has the in & out correct?’
And I’m going to check all the fuses tomorrow starting with the relay then F42,52,53,56,57,58, 62 and 18 in the engine bay
Pete K - I cant seem to find it on my IIDControl. Normally I would jump on Faceb£&k on to the GAP tool page but I’m currently banned
Also would I need the TMC too? As I’ve looked and I can only find one plug for it and the ones I’ve found on fleabay have 2

The important think is the optical loop is comeplete.
TMS shouldn’t be needed
Ccf under infotainment I think

Motolab - I have the LR HSE one. Came with a sticker and everything
Pete K - If that’s the case then I think I’ve found the problem. I have four fibre optic connections, one at the amp, one to stereo and 2 spare. one I believe is for the sat nav screen(don’t have yet), as for the other....no idea

You need to optically bridge the empty most connectors.
Pull out the coloured tiny clip in the middle
You should then carefully pull out one wire
Push it up against the other fibre face
Other is TMC

and 2 spare.
Indeed a problem... they are not “spare” ... it is a BUS (loop) they have to be connected to a working device, if not, your BUS is broken and does not work...
Do like Pete suggests or buy a screen (D3 or early D4) and one of these:
-LR Bluetooth phone module
-TMC module
-other MOST connected module
Or adapt it (remove the 2 extra plugs) the principle can be seen in the picture above.
Since that is a D4 lay-out slightly different for your D3, but you get the idea...
As above just buy the loop, the screen is not needed.

Cheers boys I think I’ve sorted it.
I’ve looped the fibre optic and still no joy so I started from the beginning and traced through the cables.
Seats out, carpet up, centre cubby out. Plus I needed to do something else while they was out too
Anyway traced them and couldn’t find anything, no nicks or kinks or squashed wires where I laid it down and then I thought......check fuses while I’m on the floor and..... No. 42 30A for the Amp was missing
Why didn’t I do what I do at work if nothing works? FUSE!
Anyway, is there a way I can check the amp is working with seats and centre cubby box out?
