With the factory screen, to get the reversing camera to appear on the screen when you select reverse, you will need a GVIF unit and the car's config file being updated so the car "knows" it has a camera fitted.
Now the bad news, GVIF units are at least £200, more if you buy a genuine LR one. Big Cry

You can also wire the camera directly to your existing screen without a GVIF, but you'd then have to start pressing screen buttons to navigate to the camera view via the hidden menu option but it does work.

You can however, fit a camera and have a separate screen to show the image on, the rear view mirrors with inbuilt screen look quite good. Thumbs Up

It's up to you how you want to do it and how practical each option is. Thumbs Up

Thanks Narpy.

I have been looking at the forum comments which agree with your comments.

I shall have to give some thought to costs etc. (as well as my capabilities).

Thanks again.

Gunner.

Hello Bodsey,

Thanks for the offer.

I have not yet convinced myself to go ahead and buy the bits yet.

I am thinking of getting the GVIF box of tricks.

I see that you are somewhere in the Telford area.

Would it be O.K. with you if I contact you when I have made my tiny mind up?

What would you charge?

Regards,

Gunner.

How do you do this?

I've poked around the secret menu.

Is this all as simple as:
* install the GVIF, which may or may not require a special cable to fit the Land Rover
* install the camera, connect it to the GVIF
* access the secret menu to enable this functionality
* a splice of some sort needs to happen to automatically enable the camera when you're in R, correct?

I fitted this last week for Gunner.

Install a GVIF and it will connect to the DVD of the nav unit. No special cable other than the one with the GVIF.
Don't need secret menu as it doesn't connect to the screen in that way.
Connect the reverse signal wire to the fuse behind the lower glovebox using a piggyback connector.
It will then automatically appear when you go in reverse.

Great, thank you! Do you know what brand/model of GVIF and camera Gunner used? I plan to do this mod for sure.
