Engine: 4.0L V6 Petrol

Afternoon everyone,

I hope your weekend started better than mine did?

The missus drove the old girl to pick up our son from school, and when she started the vehicle, there was one hell of a noise coming from the engine bay? There was absolutely no warning, I got the vehicle home, drove it from the school, about 1.3 km.

For the exception of the noise, there was absolutely nothing wrong, she accelerated as normal, no "limp mode', nothing.

I have one of those generic OBDII diagnostic plug in dongles, the only big error I saw was:
1. Some sort of crank or timing advancement.
2. And a crank/cam sensor error. (I cant remember which one crank or cam).

Are there any of you guys that has had or heard of a similar issue?

I will try and record the noise and add it to the post if necessary?

Any advice will greatly be appreciated.

Thanks!

Have a great weekend!

I had a listen now, and along with my dad and he says it may sound like a hydraulic lifter.

First thing I also checked, was the oil level (still good), water level (still good) and there was no overheating on the engine side?
