Swinging lumps of metal in rear corners

Whilst fitting my towbar electrics today I noticed the strange lumps of iron suspended just inboard of the D3s tailpipes. What are they for? I guesses something to do with stability control or suspension?

The curiosity is too much!

Does anyone know please?

Thanks YeehawTwistyArms and DiscoStu.

That's amazing. I'm really surprised that they are effective on their own and not connected to the car's systems in any way. Oh well, it must work. The D3 ride is cerainly seond to none.

Cheers,
