Spare wheel compatability
Can anyone tell me if the stock space saver is compatible with all tyre rim sizes?
I currently have 20 inch stormers on my d3
I bought a spare stormer and have this under the car just in case, but before putting it under i put the space saver next to it, and the space saver appeared to be about an inch taller!!
I am fitting 18 inch winter rims now albeit a bit late, but still hoping we will get some ice and snow!
Is the space saver a standard size that LR fit to all D3 vehicles irrespective of whether the owner buys the car with. 18 , 19 , or 20 inch alloys?
Do i need a 5th 18 inch spare, or will the space saver be ok, if i get a puncture?....................................................................................................
If my wife ever sells my stuff for what she thinks I paid for them, you lot are gonna get some bargains!

It'll be fine with the 18 (255/60 18), no idea re 20 but sounds like it won't.

20s not a standard size on a D3, need someone that has them to shed light on it. If it's an inch higher chances are it's a different rolling circumference.

The 20 inch stormers arent a problem, as i have bought a 5th stormer as a spare
Its the new 18 winter alloys im going to fit, are these going to be ok with the stock space saver spare ( which when i put this against the 20" the spare seemed to be taller? )....................................................................................................

The OD of the factory 255 55 R19 and 255 60 R18 tyres are both about 30.0" and have a circumference of about 94.4" (671 revolutions per mile)
The OD of the factory 19" speed restricted skinny spare, (175 80 R19), is sized to be the same numbers, (within 0.1%), hence it works for either the 18" or 19" factory installed tyres,
If the 18" tyre size you are purchasing has the same calculated numbers, then the factory spare will be OK.
Below is the tyre size calculator that I use to determine such.
You can also calculate the numbers for the 20" tyres you purchased. Perhaps your new 18", if not having the factory numbers, has instead numbers similar to your 20" rubber.2005 LR3 HSE 4.4L AJ-V8 petrol; Traxide Dual Battery; PIAA 2500K Yellow Ion H11 Fog Light bulbs; CounterAct LT-2 Capacitive Corrosion control; LLumar AIR80 Blue clear Infra Red blocking side window film; Liftgate manual release; Schrader Valve "air in" mod to OEM air suspension reservoir tank; Akebono ceramic pads; OEM solid vented discs; LR4 design hitch receiver; Wiggs D4 MOST bluetooth module; Clock on the Dash; 3 Flash signal light mod; Backup Camera; 2015/16 Nav Data update.
