Off Road Tyres for D4
Having just ordered my D4 Commercial it's set me thinking about a few add ons. A decent set of boots will be first on the list as off road with a loaded trailer most days.
The D3 has 17" BFG A/T's on which have been fantastic. The front 2 managed 65,000 mls before the shoulders went but still some tread left across rest of tyre.
Think the D4 will come on 19" rims as standard but not sure if BFG A/T's available for these? The other thing that sometimes concerns me is when travelling at 90mph and above (on a permitted circuit ) I think I'm at the limit of the speed rating for the BFG's. With 255hp available I'm just wondering if I can have it all..... i.e. Grippy hardwearing off road tyres that will allow me to keep the pedal to the metal. 11 RR 4.4 TDV8

I got 5 S rated MT/Rs if you want them 112 mph speed limit for that rating

Cheers for response, want the black wheels as well now devon !!!
Do the MT/R's drone much? BFG's took a little adjusting to but are quiet although I reckon knocked off 1-2mpg, can't get by without them now though.
How many miles have yours done grzesiul?

After going back to ATRs I get around 7-8% more out tank so not so bad i guess
Well you can keep then untill than right
Noise is OK up to 70, anything above does not make much difference cos of wind noise and all

Tbh ....I've had BFGs on my previous 4x4s for the last 14 years and love them ,but I couldn't get them in 19" so opted for the MTRs.,yes there is a bit of a drone,but I just prefer the feel of them compared to the Pirelli Scorps that were on it when purchased .as far as mpg.....haven't a clue and don't want to know !i think they look awesome on the D3/4Www.devonchilliman.co.uk

Looked like -2.5mpg based on my trip back from Salisbury this weekend. As regards to their poor rating on the road and in the wet ,I find that I drive accordingly with them & touch wood in the couple of years that I've had them on the D3 & now on the D4 no incidents where I've regretted having them on,let's hope I've not tempted fate now Www.devonchilliman.co.uk

I have been in a few situations on mtrs when had to brake very hard once in pooring rain and could not be more happy with their performae is and no aquaplannimg on them at all in my modest opinion
Their off road performence doesnot need mentioning
Going back to uk this year keeping close to 160+ at most times i got 400+ a bit out of the tank which is very good considering the car being fully loaded with gear
So opinions opinions but i would not agree with that site at all

Sorry. On the upside, I think speed and driving style has a far bigger impact. I was in a hurry on the way down and CC was set about 7mph faster than on the way down - result ~4mpg better on the way back D4 HSE, Active Rear Diff, surround cameras, adaptive xenons, heated steering wheel, TPMS, remote park heating, centre console cooler box

Hmmm interesting......
So are Good Year MTR's the only real off road option for 19" rims. Do approx 35k a year so need something thats a good mix11 RR 4.4 TDV8

Depends what you mean by off-road? The new General Grabber AT is available in 255/55/19 and seems to get rave reviews as does the more expensive Pirelli ATR, both are good all terrain tyres and should be good enough for most needs. The MT-R's are serious off road tyres but not really what you would call an all rounder.
