After having sold our RRS and eagerly awaiting the arrival of our new Discovery, I was wondering if the underfloor storage in the boot area is similar to the RRS in that there will be a designated space for the Towbar.

I would say this (having come from the sport). No its nothing like it.
On the 7 seat there is a pocket on both sides, one has the jack the other is a void that if you didn't spec the tow bar storage (like me not even realising it would be so tight not to have it) then you don't get the foam insert - so you basically get a void.
I think if you don't have the 7 seats there is something under the floor - but bottom line the sport arrangement is better.
