Going to test drive a Disco 4 tomorrow , its a 2009 2.7 TDV6 GS with 11,000 miles, Black with Almond Cloth. Its at a main dealers and they are asking £29,950. I have talked to them over the phone on a trade in value for my D3 2006 TDV6 GS with 47,000 miles and they have offered me £14,250. They know my vehicle as this is the main dealer were I bought it from and they have done all service work on it. I am trying to push them to get £15,000 for my D3.
Not sure if I should go for another D3 or take the opportunity to get into a D4, What do you think, any advice or suggestions.

I had the D3 S for four years. Part exchanged it with about 48,000 Miles on the clock. Never let me down. Great car. New D4 delivered in April. Mine is the 3.0GS with Auto box. D3 was Manual. I would be looking for a 3.0 litre rather than the 2.7. Nothing wrong with the 2.7 but the 3.0 and the auto box go together well. I got more than £15000 on the part ex and would suggest you ask for more, depending on the condition of your D3. I was also prepared to travel to get a good deal. I went to five different dealers to get the best deal. Definitely go for a D4 unless you want all the bells and whistle then go for late D3 HSE. IMHO I believe the D4 is greatly improved on the D3. Go for the D4.

Thanks for the reply. Although it was great to drive I decided not to go for it, wrong colour combo for me...live on a farm!!!! I think I will wait and see if any newer D3's arrive onto their forecourt. We only have three dealers in the area so not many used D3's around at the moment.
They did however phone back and said their D4 3.o litre GS Stornoway gray ex-demo will be coming up for sale soon if I am interested.....shall have to wait and see

I don't want to drive a D4 in case I end up wanting one. Told the Mrs I have to get some use out of the D3 yet!

I also have a D3 2006 TDV6 GS on a 56 plate with 45k on the clock and was offered £16,000 for it last Saturday at a main dealer, although this was against a new bulk standard D4.
I however was given a build date of February so I to may look at a used D4.
I wouldnt buy it from the dealer who valued my car as I don't think £2500 off the new price for a car thats almost a year old with 14k on it is a good deal. I have something to say! It's better to burn out... than to fade away!

The trade in price is very low, personally I'd sell privately.
Also if you are going the D4 route why not a 3.0 TDV6? If you buy a 2.7 you'll only have to upgrade again when you realise you've made a terrible mistake Tony

I now the trade-in price wasn't very good , one of the reason's why I have decided to wait. The D4 on offer was one of the first D4's out with the 2.7 TDV6 which was a trade-in against a new D4 3.0TDV6, I wanted to test drive it so I could compare it with the D4 3.0 TDV6 which I had a loan of, hence the other reason why I didn't go for it as I would prefer the 3.0 TDV6 version
You may well find a buyer for the D3 on this forum, there have been a number of people asking recently...____
