I've been offered the 50% replacement cost, (eventhough I'd done 25,000ks at the time the issue was raised) but so far, they are insisting that it has to be OEM wraglers. I was planning on Grabber AT2s when (if ever!) they get released here in oz, so I'm refusing to accept this tyre choice. Of those members that were offered the compensation, were you able to get the tyre of your choice?

Tyre wear
Have had the same problem with my tyres, spoke to LR Norway and they said because my car was second hand (15 months old) when i bought it they would not contribute to the cost of new tyres. The only thing the local dealer would do was check the wheel alignment, when the did this they found 2 of the front bushes needed changing, (which after 3 attempts they managed to do with some outside help). LRN said also because the car had done 30K when i bought it the garantee had run out????? Just for info 19 inch tyres cost over NKr20,000,00 here in Norway
In my case I had already replaced the tyres, so the dealer reimbursed me for these. I guess LR paid them for two OEM Scorpions at LR Maindealer rates, which would have been more expensive than the AT2s and they in turn reimbursed me for the AT2s. If they made anything out of it then fair play to them; I got the result I wanted.
You may want to suggest to your dealer that you enter into a similarly beneficial arrangement?I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I had done 21,000 miles on the original tyres when the issue was raised...
I am the second owner of the car...
I got 75% towards the cost of 4 new tyres based on dealer price...
I had already fitted new tyres to enable the dealer to carry out the wheel alignment...
I was given £446 "credit" with the dealer...

My tyres.....
One not too bad, bit worn on the outside edge (LHS of pic)
Very worn on outside edge (LHS of pic)
Very worn on outside edge (LHS of pic)
Wear on outside edge (LHS of pic)
This was after 12800 miles. Not sure which wheel was from which corner - but they were rotated by the dealer at 1st service anyway.Disco 5 HSE Lux

Don't need to show you mine - measured them with a gauge at the weekend and after 13000 miles all mine have 4mm tread left on then all very evenly distributed - guess I got lucky... Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

I'm having tyre trouble too......mine have gone to nothing on inside and loads on outside..... spoke with Hartwell Oxford about Chumbucket pulling to left(no tyre wear showing) they said it was poor roads in Oxford! Then pointed out some tyre wear so they re-aligned..... bit better but eventually got worse had G4 kit put on and they then said it was because of G4 kit that vehicle handled badly they charged me for next re-align then after joining the site and reading the posts on this subject I spoke nicely with the service manager and pointed out the TSB's regarding alignment and geometry...suddenly went very quiet on the other end of the line! It's going in next week for this and Sat Nav going bright and then dull, seat belt ratchets noisy and the side strips are falling off Good job I love my Discovery

Just returned from Hartwells with good feeling about tyre problem, they've got another D3 on ramps with same problem and have changed wishbones, aligned, geometry.....sounds like it's a guinea pig for others that are coming out of the woodwork to try and solve issue! Would appear Landrover are all over the place with this and I got the feeling they are playing down what has the potential to be a big problem. I'm getting set of MTR's fitted this weekend (£159.67 each from Brackley Tyres...is this a good price? Though it is for 5.) and the Chumbucket is back to dealer on Wednesday.......Watch this space.

My D3 was re-aligned after 1500 km. Car was pulling the right. Now it's pulling sometimes left and sometimes right. Also discovered that the ball joints of the front stabilisation bar are fitted strange. They are completely turned to one side.My Kyoto is fantastic

Next week the D3 goes in the workshop to replace the front ball joints of the stabilisation bar. As far as I can judge a correct decision of the dealer. My Kyoto is fantastic

My Wranglers were poked after 30,000kms. LR South Africa chipped in 40% replacement cost, but I was insistent upfront that I would choose the next set. They tried to flog me the Bridgestone HP's, but I told them I would wait for the Grabbers which fortunately arrived within the month. So now I'm a happy camper.
