Mentions that the ATRs won Australian 4wd monthly's test for best all terrain tyre. The following is an extract from the blog bit, not the link above:
"We were going to be driving on almost every type of terrain their was, bar snow, and so we needed the best all-round tyre on the market that could cope with 80mph European motorways, rough roads of the Middle East, sand, gravel and rock tracks of Sudan, Ethiopia and Kenya and worst of all the dangerous pot-holed roads of Zambia that are big enough to flip a car over or rip an axle from a chassis if hit too hard.
Having studied all the reputable brands on the market and read up on reports and tests between different brands, there was always one conclusive name that kept coming out on top - Pirelli. The tyre that received top honours and the one we decided was the one we would use was the ATR - an all-terrain tyre designed to cope with everything that was going to be thrown at it.
We have already subjected these tyres to 8,500 miles of gruelling terrain and when you see the Moyale to Isiolo road for yourself, you will wonder how any tyre can survive such punishment and come away without being ripped to shreds.
If you take a look at the tyres on this Land Rover though, they almost look new! There is not a rip, tear, or even any signs of normal tyre wear on any of them! These are bloody good tyres - take my word for it."

Good to see yet another award for these all terrain tyres.
I've had to defend the ATR on this forum quite a bit recently, as a few posts have dismissed them as not true all terrain tyres. The numerous international awards and of course the positive feedback from forum members who actually use them, will I hope encourage others to try these exceptional capable all rounders.
Iirc, it was forum tyre sponsor Ken who was amongst the first to sing their praises. It was his independent appraisal that made me try them.
