Hello and guidance please
Good Afternoon,
I have a disco 3/4 change over (4 lights and bits built 2010)
have had 4 other disco's I love them 1 and 2's
I'm hoping I may get some guidance please.
I have never used a forum before. I purchased an used Disco 3 as it was within my price bracket, everything is fine and it drives lovely its appears tight.
My issue is when I drive locally I have no issue however when I go on a longer drive I end up with a F fault on the dashboard screen and it appears to go into a limp mode of such, if I turn off it resets and is fine again!
Has anyone else had this issue the fault codes appear to be P0729, 0730 and 0735, I have tried to find resolution but was hoping someone has managed to get this resolved without paying for a gearbox and no confirmation it needs it. I'm hoping its something a lot cheaper.
Any assistance and guidance is gratefully received.
Thank you everyone and Hello

Welcome jdumont - if you do a search on here (search function is at the top of the page under the picture of the D4) there are lots of posts about wheel size and tyres for a D4
Welcome Big Dady B - might I suggest that you post your query re the error codes in the D3 section of the forum as more people are likely to read that section and then hopefully some knowledgeable people will be along to offer guidance on resolving those faults (no promise on the likelihood of those to not empty your wallet )Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector

Hello from Romania!
I just bought a D3 this year and looking forward to more details about it.
No big issues so far, but I started living with the fear of some, after reading a few posts.

@Big Dady B
do a search for the fault codes and you’ll see there was a TSB issued about this fault.. I suggest seeing if and when the gearbox oil has ever been changed and try and get a mega flush done to see if that helps, if that doesn’t work then you may be down the road towards a rebuild.. I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Good morning everybody
Just saying HI, and thank you for the vast amount of D3 knowledge I have just accessed.
I live in Norway and bought a 2006 HSE in May, after my D2 failed the MOT by far and I realized I would have no car for like 6 mnds in order to get it back on the road.
I love this one though. I think (know really) this is the best car I have had so far.
I need to change the propshaft bearing, a part from that, everything is sweet.

hello i am Bruno from Portugal, had two defenders until now and bought a disco 3 tdv6 2007 HSE with 285000km . nice car but need to update myself about is issues.
the difference until now is that in the defenders i could work on it, change parts and solve problems. In the Discovery i cant understang its gremlins and i see myself in the hands of the mechanics (not a good feeling).
thank you all for the gret contents of this blog and hope to learn more withyou all.
Sorry about my writting and excuse any mistakes while writing.
best regards

Morning all
Thanks for allowing me to join the D3 forum, its seems aplenty with helpful information I may need having aquired a 05 D3 SE from my father. He has been told he can no longer drive due to health reasons, so Ive taken the D3 on. Good news is it passed its MOT in the week, bad news it needs two rear tyres due to sidewall and tread cracking, but the main issue being the suspension going down to its bump stops when driven over 50mph. My brother has been trying to sus out the cause, he thought he had it with the steering angle sensor, but alas not. Its a painful process of elmination as some who have experienced probably know. So I will be researching the forum for help and advise from those that have gone before suffering similar/ same issue.
Catch you soon.

Thanks very much! I did indeed do a lot of searching and found all the answers I was looking for! I now have a Disco 4 with 18" Compomotives and some KO2s sat on my driveway! Very happy LR owner here!

Welcome to the members of the forum and owners of the Green Oval - also known as Money Pit
jdumont - good to hear you sorted your wheels and tyres
JeromeW - as you will have seen there are alot of posts on the suspension going down to the bump stops - hope you have been able to resolve this issue
bosco1979 - if you are happy using spanners then I would suggest buying a code reader (IID bluetooth or Autel are popular on here) and don't worry, your writing skills are on par with everyone else here
RoverDude - hope you got your propshaft bearing replaced, if not then I'm sure there are lots of people here than can give you some hints and pointers Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector

Thanks I’ve got a few obvious mods I want - facelift rear lights and ideally front grille. Remote FBH mod also useful.
I have a self inflicted issue currently tho ref the vac pipes on my other post if anyone can help or has photos? Also need to ascertain if I’m TDV6 or SDV6….

Hello world!
Hi All
Recently picked up a D3, having owned 2 D2's (still have one of them) and a 90 in the past. Got converted to comfort by owning a Honda Odyssey Absolute so figured this would be a good move and the missus likes it.
After having it for a week to test drive and everything working perfectly, the electrical gremlins started to appear very shortly after pulling the trigger on purchase... typical.
Anyway, I've purchased a GAP IID BT and signed up here so that I can start the joy of debugging yet another Land Rover - I'm obviously a glutton for punishment.
Current main fault that has it off the road is a flashing high beam that started on a trip to the other end of the Island for my young lad's doctor's appointment.
Once I've worked out how to fix that, it'll be going through any remaining faults, a quick service (always like to do my own when becoming the new owner), de-EGR and possibly a remap if all still seems well
