Vibration at 65 - 80's

Hi
I have been reading various articles for the last 2 hours and not really sure.
Had an intermittent bad vibration every few weeks if motorway driving for 5mins or so then it stopped, turned out to be the prop mount so changed the whole unit which then resulted in a 'going over a rumble strip' vibration over 65 every time. We had another look and found badly worn upper rear wishbones, so ordered and fitted these but still the same. Had a full alignment and still there Big Cry , any ideas. It was suggested that as the tyres are mud and snow (still good tread as were fitted 10 months ago) they are slightly distorted and causing this vibration.

Prop shaft?

I had the same issue at same speeds, did wishbones, and wheel bearing but problem was still there - turned out to be the prop shaft. Swapped and problem solved

Apologies, when I said we changed the whole unit i meant the prop and the rubber mount.
Could it need re-balancing possibly Question even though new.

I would be surprised if a brand new item would need balancing . It would appear from your description that the symptoms changed once the prop was exchanged so I would take another look around there . Vibration is normally the result of out of balance so anything that rotates could be the cause ,wheels tyres etc Thumbs Up

Yes, next port of call are the wheels / tyres, looking to borrow a set to try and swap with mine.
Would not be happy if the tyres were distorted Censored
Thank you

Rather than borrow wheels/tyres, try swapping front to rear and put them on the opposite sides too.

I've recently had a whole load of work done which I thought would cause a similar thing; a rumble strip like effect between 50-60mph

After changing the front and rear lower arms, ARB bushes etc and having a 4 wheel alignment and balance done I'd just about given in.

However I changed tyres last week and the problem has gone.

I know they aren't cheap but if your tyres are more than a year old it might be justifiable changing them to see if it's the culprit?

Thank you, swapped front to back and no difference. Tyre fella did look at tyres and said the tread on outer edge seems to feathered back and not smooth and also said it was the tyres hence my thoughts to change my set. Have some range rover ones buried in the garage loft so will try to get out and swap.
Thank you for your suggestions, will let you know.
Out of interest how old were your tyres. Question

The ones I swapped over were on the car when I bought it so I don't know the age, I'd estimate at least 20,000 miles though.

I've just had a similar issue which turned out to be EPB Shoes.

May be worth checking

Think there were also ePub shoe problems as found one was locked solid so changed both. We have tried everything. Wheels and tyres are the next option.
