AT2s... superb!
After my initial plans to get to Ken's to get some AT2s were cut short when I got a puncture, and discovered my spare also had a puncture... Grrr... slighlty stranded, so couldn't get down south to take advantage of his skills and prices
Anyway, just managed to get some sorted locally.
Initial impressions on going from 40K Michelin Latitude Tour HP are that these tyres are superb! Hadn't realised quite how harsh (correct pressures etc) the Latitudes had got. Really bumpy, and I was feeling every mark in the road. Car feels smoother and tighter and quieter. Tiny noticeable hum at 50MPH, but really not noticeable apart from that. Guess they won't be quite as sharp in the wet, but very very very pleased. Great on the motorway - not tried them in fields yet, but they should be infinitely better.
Had agonised for ages about whether they'd be noisy and I'd regret it - but I absolutely don't! If you're worried about road noise when swapping from road tyres, you shouldn't be! Should be better in the snow too.
And as for the look.... 8)

Not done enough to know really.. I think the expectation is 1-2mpg. That said, they should last longer than a standard tyre and are way cheaper, if for example I drop 2mpg on 15K miles per year, then it will only cost me ~£135 over the year. Not a big deal given their life expectancy, the cost saving on purchasing and increased ability (difficult to value), and the fact they make me smile when I look at them... priceless. I have Michelin Latitude HP now as well and need replacement soon. So I have been following new tyre threads closely. Your comments make me wonder John. Looking at the profile AT2 there is a huge difference with the Latitudes. Much more rough, so from a physics point of view they have more resistance on the road and should produce more noise and have a negative effect on the MPG. You actually claim a smoother drive.
Makes me wonder. Are Latitudes really that bad?

john you got it spot on, the slight drop will be more than made up for in the life of the tyre, if i'm being honest i've probably lost 1-2 mpg but these hoops should last twice as long as my last set so have saved a fortune,,,or will save a fortune,
got these for winter driving as spend a load of time in the alps every year, as well as the playing in mud...one wife.......livid

Let's say you do 40K over the life of the tyres at av25mpg at diesel at £1.1/litre. That fuel will cost you £6662.3 ish.
Now, if you drop to av23mpg (same figures as above), the fuel will cost you £7241.6.
So, the difference is £580ish more ish Latitudes vs AT2s (assuming AT2s last for 40K - which I have a friend who has done that mileage). Given than the Latitides were £80/corner more, then the cost difference is only really £260.
Really £260 is such a small percentage of 7Kish spend, and the maths to caluclate is so crude, and the conditions will be different, it's just not worth getting worried about.
However, if I'd had my original Goodyear Wranglers on, I'd have been getting close a third set in that time!

I think they've got really noisy in the last 10K miles (30-40K), and I felt the drive wasn't so confident (more tramlining etc).
A lot of it I hadn't really noticed, but a couple of things like driving up the road near our house (few potholes etc) I know the bumps to expect, and these have felt smoother, and absorb the bumps more.
Genuinely no issue with noise (occasionally noticeable at certain speeds), but you've got to try hard to listen. I was ultra-paranoid about this, and couldn't believe how quiet they were.
Going from almost worn out Latitudes to new AT2s I massively prefer the AT2s. Going from new Latitudes to new AT2s, I'm not sure if they'd sound noisier or smoother... but I didn't, few ever do, so I guess I'll never know.

Ken would have been cheaper - so ask him first. Would rather have gone with him, but punctures prohibited. You'll have to get prices from him directly
I got them from http://www.dtsthorne.co.uk/ Handy to get to as just off the M18. They were the only place that had them in stock that weren't being stupid with prices (some places wanted £170 all in). They did a good job and took their time balancing. Even swapped my spare alloy with one of the ones that was a bit dinged and then put one of the tyres from a different rim that had a decent bit of tread on back on it as a spare. There was an older lad in there that new his stuff and fitted the tyres for me - even knew about keeping the spare wheel winch tight when winching back up. They apparently fit the AT2s to a lot of commercial vehicles and agric stuff.
