Hi,
Need to change the wranglers on my disco. Only got 45,000kms out of them which I thought was fairly poor.
Can someone recommend another make that will last longer? My alloys ar 18".
Thanks,
Bob

Afternoon Bob ,
Best wearing road tyre I've used are Michelin Synchrone ( 19 ") but I think they do them in 18 " aswell.I cant remember the price.
Best wearing all rounder is Wrangler MTR.Run them right the year round.I've put up 60'000 klms on this set and theyre at approx 60 % worn.Although over here it costs about a grand for 4 corners and then some.
If it was me I'd be giving General Grabber AT2's a shot , if I had 18's of course and I think they're the most reasonably priced.

Hi there discowex,
What kind of tarmac tyre are the General Grabber AT2's?
I may get some for the winter, I am a serious motorway mile muncher and can get 31+mpg on a good smooth run.
Sorry to hi-jack the thread a little bit!! All things shipping, storage, transport. UK and worldwide.

Hi DW,
Thanks for the info. We had Michelins on a Landcruiser which done 120,000 kms before they needed changing so I would like to try the Synchrone.
I will price them up against the General Grabber AT2's and the wrangler MTR( I presume this is a more off road biased tyre).
Thanks,
Bob

I'd back the vote for the Michelins if you want a road tyre end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......

Cooper STs or STTs get about 50,000 miles out of them and cost about £100 each - not sure if they do them in 18s Duncan

I've got Michelin Latitude Tours (they are the replacement for the Synchrone which are no longer available). I run them on 18" rims.
The Latitude Tour is your tyre. I've had over 40K Miles out of them, and if it wasn't for the fact my tracking was out on the front tyres, they'd probably last longer. Plenty of life left in the rears though. Good for another 10K I reckon.
I don't drive with tyre-saving in mind, so that's pretty average use. Very quiet. Very good grip on slippery country roads. Never been stranded in a muddy field, and pulled a heavy trailer up some pretty rough off-road hills.
It's a shame they don't have the shoulder profile of the Synchrones (which looked more aggressive), as that's the only thing against them - they look a bit wet.
Unless you're doing serious off-roading and you don't mind not looking too 'ard, then they're a no-brainer. Keep an eye out for kwik-fit deals, I got my local independent to do a price match on their 25%-off-four tyre offers - they seem to rotate that offer around sets of tyres.
That said, I'll probably swap to AT2s, purely for cosmetic reasons... 2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +
2022 Tesla Model Y LR... almost Carpathian Grey
