Maxxis BigHorn Tyres
ISTR seeing a set of Maxxis BigHorn tyres on 17" rims at a site Yarwell Event earlier this year. I can't remember whose vehicle it was
Interested to know what size tyres they were (or the maximum size Maxxis BigHorn tyre you can comfortably fit on 17s without running any risk of rubbing/chafing on the arches etc.).Clubs Mantec, Tasmods, LEDS, AT2s on 18s, Maxxis Bighorns on 17s, Remote FBH, BAS. Think BarryG or one of the other Irish boys are running these.
Great reports with no rubbing as far as I can recall....... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Hi Phil,
I got a set of 5 bighorns on my 56 plate SE, the tyres are sized as LT 265 / 70 / R17.
Having thrashed them around the LRE site in Bala in February I can report that i got no rubbing at all

What tyre pressure are you running the Maxxis on Frenchy? Can you get the spare to fit under the motor without deflating it?Clubs Mantec, Tasmods, LEDS, AT2s on 18s, Maxxis Bighorns on 17s, Remote FBH, BAS. ReMap, BSS., RLD Personalised SWP., Safari Snorkel, Faultmate, Three Musketeers & MUD

Hi phil,
sorry for the late reply,
I pumped up the fronts to 33 and the rears to 35 - no science behind that, it just looked and felt OK - others with greater knowledge ( ) may be offer a more learned opinion
I never bothered to sling the spare under the car, as I use these tyres just for off road use, I just strapped it down in the boot but i think it would be a squeeze - I read somewhere that the ozzie guys have managed to fit larger diameter tyres underneath but for me it wasn't an issue.

I know the prob too with the spare in its correct position, a NEW MTR on a 19" needs persuasion to winch back up, but then again I have a Spare cover on it too
