HELP!!! First 'proper' fault after 22 months!

Jumped in the D3 tonight and . . . . .

All (and I mean all) the dashboard lights flickering, regular chiming sound, HDC failure message and clicking noise from the nearside.

So . . . I have searched about 5 zillion posts and suspect a battery / earth / low voltage problem? Possibly?

Help?

Please?

Just got back from work and put it on charge! Thumbs Up A bit dodgy 'coz it's hissing down at the moment. Shocked

I will give it a couple of hours and see if it's charging OK.

I'd PM you a few shots if I could! Thumbs Up

I only got back into drinking scotch after reading the whisky thread. I only ever buy booze when it's on special offer and my plan was to buy a bottle each month until I had a good collection of malts. Unfortunately by the time the next offer comes out I have already drunk the previous months bottle. Rolling Eyes

Update:

Right, six hours on charge, just gone out and turned the key and the car started first time, no hesitation whatsoever. After about a minute the radio and satnav came back to life.

Does anyone have any ideas how to determine whether it's a battery fault or something on the car that caused it to discharge overnight? I will check it again in the morning and see if the battery is flat again. All suggestions gratefully received.

In the meantime I will not be going too far in case the problem continues . . . . . . .

Good point, could well be. Since SWMBO changed her job I have been using her Honda Civic for work during the week (34+ mpg) and mainly using the D3 at weekends.

Saturday - used the D3 once in the morning and twice in the afternoon.

Sunday - used the car once during the course of the day.

Today - picked up SWMBO from work.

On each occasion the car started first time and the battery was showing 13v to 14v whilst driving. I think I will just put the 'non-starting' down to a one off event! Rolling Eyes
