Best battery power supply for update

Hi
I am keen to update a couple of things on the car, blue tooth update and also it doesn’t seem to have the front sensors turned on yet they are installed and connected.
Bit worried about battery voltage dropping so what’s the best device to keep a healthy 12v supply while doing this.
Or can I simply connect it to another vehicle with jump leads.
Want to do it properly really but think - will I need a £200 charger again.

Don’t use jump leads.

Any charger should do. Lidi sell um.

Maybe front sensors off as they don’t work.

Thanks I was thinking that. I have a couple of old school chargers but wouldn’t use them as they have no protection behind them etc.
Will try the middle of Lidl and see what I can find lol.

Do you have towbar electrics?

If so you can get an adapter and use a CTek charger (in the appropriate setting) to provide power to the vehicle whilst you work on it.

Plenty on this via Search.

Thanks. Tried the search but wasn’t sure if a charger was the right thing or if it needed to be a maintainer/ conditioner or bloody shampoo!!

So a ctek 10 amp would be ok?

If you are using an adapter like this:

Then one of the CTeks which has a live power mode will do it.

The MXS 7.0 certainly does but others will.

I'm a bit surprised at the suggestions here.
I have always understood that the current taken by the D3/4 during engine off/ ignition on diagnostics / upgrades was about 20 amps and therefore can't see a 3-4 amp charger cutting it.
I'd further understood that the control electronics were fussy about voltage flutuations / ripple and a charger with a supply mode was needed.

Am I mistaken or has experience shown that the requirements
are less?.

The Lidl chargers are good value for maintaining the battery when the car is out of use but are only occasionally available.

I believe GAP have changed their recommendations. And aren't that fussey these days.

It's just sensible to turn the climate off, turn the interior lights off (hold middle button till it flashes)
turn radio off. And add some from of charger to keep things topped up.
