Rear knock
Apologies if this has been asked about before.
For as longs as I’ve had the disco there has been occasional knocking which seemed to be from the rear mainly after the air suspension had been raised or lowered and I was turning, there would be a dozen dull knocks which would then go and not return until the suspension was changed. It’s been steadily getting worse and now it seems as though it’s happening all the time and I’m noticing the rear is not as smooth when driving so I presume it’s now worse and needs attention. It’s passed it’s MOT without advisories for the last 4-5 years despite it being a 54 Reg D3.
Any ideas what it could be?
Much appreciated.

Possibly bad cv joints in the rear half shafts? Check out a youtube video and see if it's similar

Hi Disco Chris, have been on YouTube and checked out some videos and it’s a similar sound to what’s on there, I’m going to try it in reverse while the steering is turned to get a better idea.
Thanks for the advice, it’s not booked in for another week and a half but I’ll report back confirming what the issue was.

my guess would be rear upper suspension arms or the roll bar drop links only way to find out is to jack up and start wiggling things
do both ways when checking ie jack up from chassis and also from suspension arm
when was anything under there last changed?please excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick, thankyou

To my knowledge the bearings have been replaced and the usual brake discs/pads, I got a file of jobs done before I bought the car, I’ll have a look through and see what’s what.
I drove down the A19 today and it felt as though the rear was vibrating for a while then 5 mins later it was smooth and the vibration had gone!

If the vehicle vibrates at a specific speed on an even surface (I looked up what A19 is) it probably isn’t suspension related… typically the vibration can come about from a stuck brake piston which slows down one wheel, for example. Sometimes it is easy to notice due to the kind of burning smell or heat being radiated from the wheel.

Hi
Apologises if you’ve already tried this but also had a knocking from the back occasionally
On flat ground , hand brake off and into park , I put the suspension into access height , grabbed the top of the rear tyre and rocked it back and forth whilst listening for any knock or movement , then tried it in normal then off road height and found my rear upper wishbones were knocking in access height , wouldn't do it in any other height
At the same time I also done the following , raised to off road height , pulled fuse F26 and used axle stands seeing I was underneath
Moved the exhaust side to side
Same with the propshafts UJ’s and centre bearing to ensure there wasn’t any movement or knocking
Inspected and moved the drop links
I also jacked it up to double check the wheel bearings , wheel nuts where all torqued up, along with wheel run out , have the wheels balance been checked plse
Hope that also helps
Edit , plus 1 what @ kajtzu has just mentioned as my rear near side brake calliper was sticking

I’m going to have a look at it over the weekend but I know very little mechanically, will see what crops up when it goes into the garage next week, I will post on here once the diagnosis is made.
Many thanks for the reply’s and advice from everyone.
