A buddy was quoted for a timing belt change. He asked how much to also change the oil pump whilst it’s apart and was quoted an additional and extra 5hrs labour on top the first quote Does this sound ok – it’s just 10 bolts and prime with oil...

This was me and after calling the garage twice to double check they had the quote correct and being informed it was, I cancelled my booking and went elsewhere. How can it be 4.5 hours labour for the front timing belt and then jump to 10 hours if I want the oil pump changing at the same time. Seems bonkers to me. Anyway the new garage are doing front and rear belts along with the oil pump and changing all the glow plugs and quoted me 9 hours for the lot. Assuming the plugs don't cause a problem obviously.

Either haven’t done the job before. Or
Expecting to do it twice if the seal leaks.

Just for reference, my local Indi charged for 9 hours for the belts service , but that was for a 2016MY D4 (Adblue). They had to disconnect the aircon (and therefore re- gas) and drain coolant as part of that. I know it's trickier /tighter on this model.
That was June 2022. It was the first one they had done.
Hope you get it sorted for a resonable price.
CheersGary

For my budgeting. What is the approx price for this?
