CD player with 'ticking' noise in the background

Be gentle its my first post Embarassed

I have the HK audio kit in my HSE, the problem is that when using the CD player (either with normal cd of MP3 disk) in the background you can hear a slight ticking noise. This noise varies in reputition as if it is related to the speed the disk is spinning, yet the ticking is comming through the speakers not a mecanical noise from the cd player.

I've tried trawling through loads of the posts but have not come across anyone reporting the same thing. (but hell you lot have a lot of info on the LR beast).

any views or comments would be welcomed as it driving me nuts.

cheers

Mart

Have you checked you haven't got an unexploded WW2 bomb on board?

Does it get louder as the volume is turned up?

no WWII bomb present (phew)

and yes it gets louder when the volume goes up were it is more pronounced at higher volume, especially on quiet sections of music. The CD's are fine (it does it on original cd's and backup copies Wink ) the tick is not present on the radio, or when you put music in through the AUX channel. Just the CD Confused

Got a similar problem but ours sounds like a very high pitch (but very quiet) whirring noise, like the CD spinning through the speakers. You don't notice it/forget about it after a while.

Interesting looking colour coding you've got there wilsonmg, front bumpers but not arches?

its on all cd's and in all slots Big Cry

as with the colour coding, I think it looks a little to 'silvery' if you do the wheel arches as well. But as with everything its always down to personal taste ... Laughing

Ticking from a CD can sometimes be traced to the player having to compensate for too much duff data. In a nutshell, CD players have a small buffer and will re-read duff elements of the disk and try and produce a proper picture of what's there if they get a fault. If this is happening a lot it can "tick". One of the most common causes is dust and other debris on the laser, so may well be worth investing in a CD cleaning disk.

Give that a go and let us know if it helps?
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
