Trailer light issues - do towing electrics perish over time?

Added VPLAT0012 to car 10 year ago now when we bought it. Fitted myself.
Recently, noticing some oddities where trailer lights aren’t working as should.
Trailer lights given full check and test in recent service and confirmed all OK.

This morning, right trailer indicator wasn’t working, gave connector a shove and then worked.

I seem to recall the cable runs under back of car, part weights and up into the left hand side boot space.

Could the cable or connector have perished over the past 10 years?

We tow weekly so there’s a lot of connecting/disconnecting.

Any similar experiences out there?
Cheers Thumbs Up

Corrosion of socket on car the most likely in my experience.

Unless you have had rodents eat the wiring (on the trailer), it will almost certainly be the socket as mentioned above, and/or the plug, as generally these are made of cheese.
