Autel AP200. A very amateur review

After spending what seemed like an eternity on picking a suitable diagnostics tool I eventually settled on the above for £45 off amazon. It was a toss up between this, an Icarsoft LR or the Gap IID tool. It does seem certainly very hand to keep in the glovebox and as such I've uploaded a video to YouTube trying to show some of its features. It seems this CAN do suspension calibration too which seems a feature many are after

I am not a reviewer or youtuber, in fact this is the only video I've uploaded so dont expect much. Only trying to help anyone else in the same position as I was.

Informative video Ben Thumbs Up , seems a good code reader and for £45 great value and seems to tick a lot of boxes.

I assume it would also work on a D4.

I was also looking at the iCarsoft but the Autel looks to do the basics and I guess would be very useful for people like me who are not great at wielding spanners but like to know what the faults are when they appear (note the when not if Laughing )

Be useful to know what the mechanics think of this bit of kit.

Thabk you. I think I read somewhere it works on all land rovers after 2004. Presumably those with the OBD2 Port. If I get the chance to try it on another model I'll let you know!

I use the Autel tool too.
I've used it on both my Disco 3 and L322 Td6 to clear and reset codes.
It was able to do the service reset on the tdv6, and it also has a live data feature too. Which I used to diagnose which injector had gone bad on my td6. So instead of pulling them all out and the cost of testing / refurb, it identified the one injector that was at fault. All, whilst the engine was running.

Already saving me more than the initial purchase cost.

You get one car manufacture free when you buy. So downloading the Land Rover software I can use it on any Land Rover product as it's not tied to a VIN number.

Mines stuck in a loop so when it asks me to bind the dongle then when I do bind it the only thing it allows me to do is quit the app, at which point it then wants me to bind the dongle again.

Hi BenRK, I`ve got one of these too and so far a good useful little bit of kit to as you say keep in the glove box, I have used mine so far to reset fault codes and to give the heads up to my indy as to what`s wrong with my D3 before bring it in.
For the price it`s great.

Regards Dave.

Had one now for three months and yes it will work on all land rover and using it on my mates range rover,
Just plug it in and away you go just follow the on screen actions which you want.
Some say you need to be on the Wi-Fi or internet you don't need it to do the diagnostic as it works in conjunction with the tool and your phone .(once you have downloaded the app)
Once a fault is found you can run through the fault code and code error descriptions and what may occur to the vehicle when the error occurred, for instance you may get a warning or a yellow light or some other piece of information related to that specific fault, then if you want more information like how to fix the fault you will need the internet then as it will automatically go to Google and a series of videos and various information will be shown regarding the fault you are looking at.
Also a good thing is when you use it on other land rover / range rover it will remember the vin number and car in a drop down menu at the start.
I chose land rover for my free car and as said it is just not assigned to my car but anything that is land rover,I have used it on three different cars, two discovery 3s and a 2006 range rover sport 320.
I have found the suspension diagnostic and used it today and it actually does a live report of heights and voltage readings pluse the pump pressure which incidentally is in Kilopascal known as kpa use a conversion chart to change to psi
but unfortunately I gave not discovered how to change the suspension settings, any help would be appreciated.
You also can save all the information given in the options as pdf file and share it with anyone you know obviously again you will need the internet to share it,this is so useful as you could do this in real time to get instant information from your mate or garage when dealing with the fault .
For four five quid back in September I find it unbelievably good value for what it can do ,as a mate said leave it in the car and one day if might get you home if an emergency light comes on instead off on a back of a tow truck.
