Front Parking sensor replacement |
|
Oh Knowledgeable Ones,
My front nearside parking sensor has failed, I know it's that one because it doesn't tick any more and Faultmate says so!
Looking at the workshop manual, I will have to virtually dismantle the front of the car, well headlights and bumper (Fender) cover along with wheel arch covers all have to be removed.
Does anybody have a simpler way, like if I remove the fog light can I get to the back of the sensor through the hole?
If that isn't possible does one have to completely remove the bumper (Fender) cover, is it absolutely necessary to remove the wheel arch trim given that I only want to replace the nearside sensor!
Thanks in advance,
Ian

If its the outside ones .. Then remove the fog light and go in from there .
Undo the clips and push the sensor into the bumper so it comes out the back G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Same one has gone on mine. I recently changed a rear sensor and couldn't get it out without removing the bumper (which is reasonable straightforward).
Wiggs, can you explain a bit more about how the clips are fitted to the front outer sensor as I'm guessing visibility and space will be limited for my fat fingers!
Cheers. Dec 04 TDV6 HSE in Tonga green with Alpaca interior.

same on the front as the rear
have a look here http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/albums/use...ensors.pdf
look at the picture of the sensors ...it has 2 tabs on each sensor ..these just need opening out wards to allow the sensor to slide out ....i find pushing the sensor through the bumper at the same time helps as there normally stuck in with crud / dirt G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Thank you for forwarding the manual pages, this post helped me to sort one of mine today.

From memory, you can do the rear in situ but the middle ones are a pain and it easier to remove the bumper. The front I just took the fixings out one side and it gave sufficent room (again I think this was a middle one on the front)

Just to add a bit. I replaced an outer rear sensor as follows.
There are two clips holding the sensor in place. Used a finger to lift the upper and slide a small piece of plastic card under it to hold it up. Then pulled down the lower and pushed the sensor out . It will dangle on the wire/ connector. Undo the connector, fit the new sensor and push back into position. Note the two clips holding the sensor are not at the 12/6 o’clock position but situated at a slight angle. Not much room or light to see by but can be done without much effort. Hope this helps! Once you have defeated the idiots any job is half done. Pity there are so many idiots to defeat.
