Brake Vacuum Pump
I’m doing my cam chain and lifters on my discovery 3 and I’ve removed the vacuum pump. I can pour oil out of the pump and there is oil in the pipe to the brake booster. I know there was a recall but will a new vacuum pump sort this out? I don’t want to be spending £500 on the new one, but I assume a seal has gone inside the pump and is allowing oil to pass through to the booster.

Was the pipework recall/upgrade done? If not it will need to be done or you'll be back in there pretty soon, new pump or not!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Yes, the pipe work/recall has been done already. The vacuum pump is passing oil through the pipe. Hopefully the new one stops this happening. I’ll have to take the booster off and see how much oil comes out. I’m just wondering if I actually need a new vacuum pump or is it normal for them to pass oil to the booster. Even with the upgraded pipe.

If it's passing oil into the booster after the upgrade was done it's likely the pump is shot. You should be able to suck out the oil from the booster without removing it.
Just to be clear, if you have a single pipe from the pump to the booster the modification has not been done.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

part of the mod is to change a spring on one of the vac pump outlets.
