Oil on the gruond - left side. |
|
My disco 3 tdv6 is spilling oil. I think the oil comes from the upper small tube on the left side of the radiator. I dont think it is motoroil - it smells different , but i am not sure.
Does anybody know, this tube ? It has a cover of grey nylon. Calle - disguised as adult.

I think its power steering fluid. You better get it looked at quickly. Just make sure its nothing silly like a loose connection.

If I remember correctly from my recent work on the rad, as well as the engine coolant it also cools the power steering fluid and auto gearbox oil

I think there is a pipe that has fins on it that runs accross the front of the rad.

I think the pipe with the fins is the fuel cooler.

The connectors for the fuel cooler are well away from the top of the main radiator. Down underneath the fan housing I think. I think you were on the money with it being steering fluid.

Sorry. Off-course I ment a pipe and not a tube. BUT if both (powersteering and transmissionoil) goes throug the same radiator, then it should be possible to afterfill the transmissionbox in the reservoir for powersteeringoil. Calle - disguised as adult.

Im sure that it is not fuel and either motoroil. It is grey. Transmissionoil is normally red. The powersteering-oil is also grey. Calle - disguised as adult.

The small pipe adjacent to the rad and PS resovoir is the breather for the front differential, if the oil is grey, this indicates water contamination. Check under the vehicle for front output shaft oil seal leak from the transfer box, this shows to the left but approximately in line with the gear selector.
