Humble pie on order.

So whilst I love my Volvo, I've been missing my D3/4. I bought my XC90 after almost buying a new Defender then deciding I needed seven seats and not liking the rear door. Don't get me wrong, the XC 90 is a superb car, beautifully built, super comfy, reliable and with great dealer service, but it just wasn't 'us' as my family kept saying.

Anyway, today I went to look at a 2016 D4 HSE LUX at Lookers in Aylesbury that I had reserved despite my saying 'never go back' Embarassed Anyway long story short, I still felt the D4 was feeling old but still super practical, so I ended up ordering a new Defender 110 in Eiger Grey. Embarassed

Apologies all, Humble Pie on order. Laughing

Fingers crossed delivery in March. 🤞 Thumbs Up

Well done...I'm very inclined to go the same route.

I'll be interested to hear about insurance costs compared to the XC90 & D4 in due course.

Please keep us posted. Good luck.

Moo, do not feel too bad, you will be in company be it good or bad company, who knows? Well we have a D300 L663 110 arrived in January. The L663 90 HT is due September, had to change the spec on that a bit.

Good choice 👍 You will not be disappointed.

My D300 is still going fine. 19 months old, 13k miles. Just had to fill the ad-blu tank for the first time. It has a drive belt squeak that needs attention when I get home from holiday, but that’s it. Yes it’s not quite as roomy as the old D4, but you summed it up there.. old!!

If they had put the straight 6 into a D4 body, having engineered out the chassis and lightened the whole package by half a tonne, and included all the latest tech that the Defender has, then called it a D6 I could be tempted! 😆

The D5 really had a bad press but a majority of those that actually had them had a different view in my experience ...even many former D3 4 owners but wouldn't generally express it because of fear of ridicule ... the load space is bigger than a Def and it was just as capable off-road. The latest model actually looks far better than the original variant. Anyway, I really like the Def but would only have the hybrid or forthcoming electric ...if I could afford it.

One year on with the DS ...still averaging 145mpg ...whatever model ...hybrid \ electric is the only way forward IMO Thumbs Up

Agree.

The BMW hybrid with the bigger more usable battery is a great combination. 71miles trip the other day and 62.7miles in EV. Probably could have managed a few more miles if I didn't have AC on the return leg.

Averaging around 300mpg on fuel as the bigger battery is perfect for our daily needs

The sound of the P400 on start up is worth the extra fuel..... Bow down
