Lr3 Air Con compressor broke |
|
Morning all
It’s been diagnosed that the air con compressor on my 2005 D3 is broken and requires a replacement.
My question is, well a couple:
1. How big of a job is it? Can I diyer do it? I’ve had quotes up to £1200 to complete the job (quoting body off)
2. I’ve not had chance to look yet, but where in the engine bay is it? Front or back? Easy to get to?
I only ask as i go away to Cornwall in 2 weeks and im slightly up against it with time…
Cheers
Steve

Access is not good.
I did mine on the driveway, I reckon two days if you have not done one before, day if you have a decent idea of whats what.
Got pump from Eurocarparts as amazingly they were the best price, and they had one on the shelf!
Before you start the engine, always and I mean always remove the rag you have placed in the inlet trunking to stop any carp going down there

Just had my compressor replaced by my Indi. Charged £900, this included a new AC pipe and re gassing. Its not a body off job but it is a pig to do apparently.

If that 900 was labour and all the parts/gas etc, I would say that was fair.
