My D3 Commercial has been throwing suspension faults for about a year.
It started with the yellow light on the dash coming on after a couple of minutes of driving. Reading the codes I got the code for the system pressurising too slowly. We rebuilt the pump with an XR8 kit and it was fine for for about 6-8 weeks, then the light started coming on again. The same fault code was present again but it still held pressure fine, so we carried on driving it.
A couple of days ago we noticed that the suspension had dropped, so I pulled the pump off to check that it was operating properly. It ran fine and produced plenty of pressure. I re-fitted it but it wasn't running when the engine was started and suspension remained it it's lowest position. I read the codes again and got this:-
C1A27-14 (2E) Compressor circuit - General electrical failure - circuit short to ground or open
( on 19-05-2022 20:52:07 at 282460 km )
Apart from the obvious blown fuse, are there any other known problem areas to check?

Wiring behind the LH front side guard liner is problematic for chaffing and wire breakage.

Did you change the compressor relay? these can be problematic over time.

The relay was the wrong one but i changed it for the heated screen one and the compressor still didn't run.
Will check the wiring for chaffing tomorrow.

So, I have no chaffed wires in the loom behind the n/s front wheel arch-liner and the loom looks fine all along to the compressor.
There is 12 volts at the fuse but I only have 12 volts at one of the coil terminals on the relay. I would have thought that there should also be 12 volts at one of the switch terminal contacts too.

On further investigation tonight the 60 AMP fuse has blown, so that explains the lack of power to the switch terminal on the relay. I think I am going to get a new compressor, as the motor must have caused the fuse to blow and when substituting a temporary glass 60 AMP fuse this evening, the motor doesn't sound great.
Question is, do I stick with Hitachi, or change to AMK? Can the IID tool do the software upgrade for the AMK pump?

Stick with a hitachi, amk is not an upgrade.

Fitted a new Hitachi compressor and 60 amp fuse at the weekend and all seems to be well. No warning lights after a 25 mile round trip!
