Picking up my first Landrover D3 at the weekend (Help Me)
Hi,
I am hopefully picking up my first landrover d3 at the weekend. Im being told that it is having all belts and tensioners and latest oil pump being fitted for me. Is there a way to check this has been done?
Also is there a thread on bits and bobs that i should check out immediately and address on the ageing d3? Like a guide of all the things that need to be looked at?
Mines done 160k is there anything in adding two stroke to the fuel and is it safe? Won't be doing much mileage, its for family trips and a bit of fun, not going to be used as an every day vehicle.
As I understand it, the only way to check the oil pump is the new type is to get the cover for the cam belt free and look at it. There are pictures in the forum of the old and new design.
I found mine is an old one and I had my belts changed before I picke the car up so took out a warranty with motor easy.

Thanks i'm excited, but worried about all the horror stories. I have found a land rover specialist near me and they're gonna check it over for me.

That's the best idea. I am sure you will enjoy ownership and this is an amazing forum, well beyond LR ownership... the font of all knowledge and you can buy an amazing assortment of goodies too!

How many people would recognise if a box of 'tat' they are handed with the words "ere you go mate, the old bits" were actually off their car
