Any ideas on how I remove this????

Hi All,

Managed to remove the 2nd upper suspension arm but had to saw off the bolt, now stuck with the below and need to get another bush(?)

Any suggestion on how to remove this? Tried heating and knocking out the remains of the bolt but no joy..? Problem is it wobbles about now I've cut and burnt it, wonder if theres a way I can press it out without a hole for a bushing removal kit...

Thanks!
BoB

Use a hole saw without the pilot drill to cut through the rubber from both sides

Hey Andy,

Sorry where is the rubber as I've burnt out everything around the bush...?

Cheers

Can you remove the middle bits left in it ( with a big hammer and drift, whilst supporting the other side). Then use your recip saw to cut a slot in the outer part of the bush ( without cutting too deep) , and then bash it out. Failing that, use a die grinder to remove material until you can get the middle bits out.

Hi DN,

Yeah thats the problem the bolt and metal bearing (?) is wobbling around inside..

Anyway I can push the bearing casing out or cut it out with a thin recip saw blade?

@rrhol

Hi Richard,

That looks an awesome bit of kit Thumbs Up

Anyway I can get the old bushes out while "in situ" using some sort of bushing removal kit, without a thread pole????

Cheers

I've been in that situation - I used the bushing removal tool (aka big sockets .) with a large vice (unbolted from the bench Laughing ) to squeeze them together.

The bush was in situ on the car and it took a fair bit of thinking and sweat but I got there.

Yes, for sure you can get them out in situ. You'll need something like this -

Not recommending this seller, just the first web picture I found.

Not sure how you'd do it without a big thread, you'd need a hydraulic 'C' frame press?

Plus 1 ^^^^^^ @rrhool and to the fantastic bit of kit u have

Indeed those kits are very good , admittedly I bought new wishbones but were great on the top hub bushes

Also very interesting regarding the white bit inside the wishbone arm, that’s a kind of bump stop isn’t it or to simply strengthen the bush plse , for the life of me I can’t remember

Seeing that bush reminds me seeing a video of someone welding inside a bearing metal casing and then watching it dropping out

@Bob , hope it’s plane sailing now after getting the arms off

Thanks for all your info and suggestions...

Any ideas on the diameter needed for a bush removal socket ? I measure the outer ring at 39.4 and inner at 37.8 mm never done this before so not sure if the socket goes on the outer part or inner of the bushing.. Embarassed .!?

Thanks Bob
