Fuel tank breather elbow repair?

I found the fuel tank leak on the breather elbow on the 2005 Disco3. Presumably mice have eaten through the elbow. Does anyone have suggestions for repair?

(picture uploaded to my gallery below)

I am guessing it is not easily replaceable and I was thinking about making a metal plate with a new elbow fitting, and cutting the old one off flush, enlarge the hole and screw down plate with self tappers and sealant.

Any other suggestions or ideas?
Thanks
Chris

My first thought is new tank.
Looks like that elbow plate has been heat welded to the main tank body, I wouldn't risk trying to attach something to a plastic tank.

you could try measuring the id of the plastic pipe then cutting the chewed piece off and fix something like a copper solder joint pushed into the pipe on the tank then refit the pipe onto the 90 degree copper fitting prob easier than trying to repair whats left but whatever you do get it done soon before you end up with a tank full of crud
 please excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick,thankyou

Had this happen on both my Disco and my Audi Allroad which I discovered after I'd dumped quite a lot of diesel on Morrisons Fuel station forecourt. To repair the Audi I found a 15mm plumbing elbow would self thread into the hole and gave me an outlet pointing in the right direction and I placed a piece of 15mm pipe into the fitting with an olive squeezed on gave me the right diameter for the small pipe. I seem to remember doing the same thing on the Disco. On the Disco I then decided Id had enough of these little b...........s and used a hot glue gun to stick stainless steel washing up scourers all around the area to pack it so tight even an ant would have difficulty getting in there. I have some photos of the Audi repair so will load those up probably tomorrow, come to think of it I may have photos of the Disco as well.

Photos of Audi as promised. Cost to do this was nil. Changing the tank involves removing the rear sub frame assembly and associated suspension oh and rear axle. Didn’t fancy that.

And have a look at https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/post2127765.html#2127765

Worth a search. It's not an uncommon problem.

Thanks for the pictures, the link and the suggestions. I will investigate a plumbing fitting. I did search the forum first as it is such a wealth of information but I did not find the existing thread.

It's made a starch based plastic that tastes like a roast dinner to rodents, it's a very common problem the plastic is widely used in the automotive industry.
Mini use it on the wiring harness clips under the bonnet and the rodents eat the wiring harness at the same time
